The Relay for Life- Survivors dinner.

Thank you to DianeBPhotography for allowing me to use the pictures she took for this post. You can see all her fantastic photography work Here.
I made 250 cupcakes for the event, and wanted the cake to be the centerpiece, and it was a great subject of conversation for many around the park. I am so tired from this one!


I also owe much thanks to my Hubby, Miss Shanda, My Momma and Mom& Dad R. They pulled the last and final touches together while I was working at my day job. I am also thankful for those who allowed me to leave early to get everything  done and delivered.
I met a lady whom survived cancer, and again was fighting for her life. We talked about faith, and attitude. Seeing all these people walking into our little dinner spot really made this past week worth it. I too often find myself depressed because I had a hard day at work, but Cancer, never sleeps, you cannot just crawl into your bed and make it go away. Therefore, I pray for those who fight and celebrate with those who have won.

My first wedding cake

I had a month to plan this one out, it is very similar to one I did for a bridal shower in February. Except this one is twice the size of the other one.

Its white cake with cherry filling. I spent a week trying to catch up on sleep after this one. I made the Lillie's this time out of gum paste.


Things I learned from this cake:
1. I will no longer be depending on me making perfect marshmallow fondant last minute.
It was sticky and I couldn't get it to work with me at all.
2. I will start ordering my fondant from satin ice.. its worth it.

Barn Yard Birthday

This is the quickest cake I have made ever so far. We left Arizona for Idaho on a Tuesday, arrived in Idaho on a Thursday night and I made this cake on a Saturday for the afternoon party. They made it really easy for me though. Really, all I had to do was bake a cake, fill it with yummy Oreo filling and put green fondant on top. They supplied the farm animals, I just arranged them.

Even though its simple, its one of my favorites.


Things I learned from this cake:
1. I can do orders on short notice.
2. I love my Oreo filling recipe

Lillies and Chocolate

I made the following cake for a bridal shower. The bride wanted a chocolate fondant cake with Calle
Lillie's, and this is what she got:




The Lillie's are made out of fondant.

What I learned from this cake:
1. Lillie's made from fondant break REALLY easy. Next time I will use gum paste.
2. Rainy days make the cake shiny.. and blemish able.

Hawaii.. Honeymoon.. Anniversary..

I made this cake for one of my Greatest Friends. She very much deserved this cake, while she
                                           celebrated her 5th anniversary with her sweet heart.
They went to Hawaii for their honeymoon and she wanted to surprise her husband with a cake reminiscent of those days back when.. She has been such a supporter through all my ventures and was on the top of the clientele list when I started my little cake hobby. I am thankful for her friendship always..

Rapunzel? Who's Rapunzel?

Okay... so here is a funny story.. A friend of ours referred me to her sister about her daughters birthday cake. Jared took the order (Jared is my Hubby) and the request was.. It didn't matter which one its is just as long as it Disney Princess. So he thought well a Disney Princess that is freshest in our mind because it was in theatres would be Rapunzel. We didn't think to actually run that idea past our customer... so we came up with this idea. Rapunzel, standing in the cake and her hair wrapping all the way around the tiers of the cake.

I was so pleased with the way the cake turned out.. but we thought we would throw in a key element to the story.. the frying pan:

plus some flowers in her hair and if you look close her pet chameleon is there too...

So we deliver the cake and this cute little girl come running in so excited to see her cake and.... she stops and says.. who's that? I WAS MORTIFIED! Her mom said.. you had to pick the one Princess she hadn't seen the movie to??? EVEN MORE MORTIFIED!! After the blood left my face we thanked them for the opportunity and apologized profusely for the mix up we left.. and we forgot to take pictures of the cake.. Luckily our friend took these for us and emailed them over to us. We again were so thankful that we had the opportunity to have made this cake.. with each one I learn something new.

What I learned from this cake:
1. Always re verify with the customer orders that Jared takes by himself. (I love him SO much)
2. Take pictures BEFORE delivering the cake..
3. My husband is the smartest guy ever.. The frying pan made this cake and it was his idea.

Precious Moment

              I really loved making this cake. I made it for my Great Nieces 1st Birthday Party.

Her invitation had this cute little precious moment fairy on it, and her mom asked that I put it on the cake some how. So each important detail was cut out separately. (Ex. the flower and the butterfly.)
Then hand painted.

Then I hand made a Lady Bug which was a great addition to the cake. Also a bunch of little hand made flowers and roses.



Things I learned from this cake:
1. Although the may have cake started out being pastel purple, the sun will change the color to pastel green. (Who knew?)
2. Leave "quilting" up to the professionals.

big "G"

This cake had a unfortunate turn of events...


The cake never got ate. Which I am sad about, mainly because that was the coolest part of the cake. I used a special technique to make the cake look like camouflage.

Things I learned from this cake:
1.  Even though the top layer of the cake fell apart it made a great shelf for the G.
2. Once you make camouflage colored fondant, you shouldn't pull it up and re-knead it.. it loses its effect.
3. I will never do two cakes at one time again. see "Two words: Topsy Turvy".

I am so glad this didn't turn into a disaster. I made this for a very deserving sister of mine on her **th Birthday.


Things I learned from this cake:
1. My husband completes me, he actually did 99% of this cake .
2. Topsy turvy is such a simple idea, but its complicated to get it to turn out.. unless your Jared.. then its easy.
3. Never again will I do two cakes in one night.. see "big "G""
